Dr. Sadananda Payeng was born in Ghunasuti Village of Lakhimpur District of Assam on 30 April, 1971. He completed his schooling from Lakhimpur Academy and graduated from North Lakhimpur College. Having completed his Masters Degree from Guwahati University, he pursued his Ph. D. Degree from DibrugarhUniversity in the year 2011 on the topic of “ Sanskritization and Tribal Community: A case study of Mishing Community of Assam.” Till date he has several Publications in his name in renowned International and national Journals. He has also publications in renowned Assamese Magazines like Gariyoshi, Prakash, Satsari etc.
Dr. Payeng is anRenowned figure in Cooperative and Cultural life as well. He was elected asmember of the Academic Council of Guwahati university and appointed by Govt of Assam as Districtcoordinator of the Colleges of Nagaon, Governing body Member of Corpus Fund of MisingAgomKebang, contributed chapters in Curriculum of SEBA. In the cultural field, he acted as the Jury member of the Mising Film Festival and Adviser of the Krisha – Ratna Foundation. Being an artist, he participated in cultural several programs of AIR Guwahati and Nagaon Centre. He also dubbed his voice as a play back singer in Assamese DoorDarsan serial “ XuntoraRupohi” along with rendering his voice in several Mising Folk songs in Audio Cassettes. Also being a prolific actor, he performed in several Dramas and one acts plays in all over Assam including the famous Ban Theatre, Tezpur and Rabindra Bhavan, Guwahati.
Besides these, he was in great demand as a Judge of Bihu and Mising folk dance Competition in various parts of Assam due to his in-depth knowledge about the subject. He is also involved with sahitya sabha as the Secretary of Arundoy Sahitya Chora, Nagaon. Due to his immense contribution in the numerous aspects of Assamese society, he was in fact invited for two times by noted personality HomenBorgahain in his TV talk show Kotha-Barta. Currently he has taken the responsibility of the principal of this college from 1st August 2023, before working as Secretary of Teachers’ Council and member of the College Governing Body.
