ABOUT THE COLLEGE

Established on 7th September 1959, Anandaram Dhekial Phookan College (ADP College) is located in Nagaon district of Assam. It was established in the hallowed memory of Anandaram Dhekial Phookan, the great litterateur of Assam of yesteryears; vide a resolution taken by Assam Sahitya Sabha in 1958. The college was established to cater immediate need of the learners from rural background with a vision of making itself a center of excellence by imparting quality education in both academics and co-curricular and spreading scientific temper among the upcoming generations. Starting as a night College, the college has now evolved into a full fledged day shift college offering all the streams-Arts, Science and Commerce.

Anandaram Dhekial Phookan College is affiliated to Gauhati University. At present the college is offering various Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes in Arts, Science and Commerce streams. The curricular aspects of the college is taken care by twenty-one departments viz. English, Assamese, Arabic, Sanskrit, Bengali, Hindi, Education, Economics, Geography, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Commerce, Computer Science,Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Statistics, and Herbal Science& Technology. The college also offers PG courses in Herbal Science and Technology (MSc), Assamese (MA) and History (MA).

In addition, the college also offers :
B.Voc. Programme in Herbal Processing Technology;
Tea Technology & Plantation Management;
Diploma courses on PGDCA;
Fashion and Dress Designing Technology;
Certificate course in Spoken English.
At present, 72 numbers of permanent teaching faculties are associated with these departments to guide and ignite the inquisitive minds. The college also posses a beautiful Library with 50000 books and a digital section of it, which has been tremendously helping the students in their academic and personality growth.

The College was accredited by NAAC in 2004 for the first time and awarded B grade. In its 2nd accreditation by NAAC in 2015, the college was awarded A grade (CGPA 3.11) and in its 3rd accreditation in 2022, the college was awarded B++ grade (CGPA 2.94). The college has also been awarded with financial grant under the illustrious Star College Scheme, an initiative of the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India.
